• Where - Flags are posted at Market Square, West Train Station and North Western Avenue and the adjacent business district.
• What – This work entails following one of two truck/trailers drawn along, drawing flags from a trailer, unfurling the flags and setting the flags into pre-drilled holes along the route. Depending on the number of volunteers, this effort can take from 30 minutes to an hour.
• Morning Meet-Up – Meet-up is at the fountain in Market Square/ West Metra train station/ Corner of Laurel and Western as pre-announced by the East Flag chairman (Tom Marks), West Flag chairman (Jim Holmes) and North Flag chairman (Ted Moorman) at 6 AM or so to avoid interfering with commuters. West Side meet-up at 6:30 AM.
• Afternoon Follow-Up - Volunteers are needed to help recover the flags by meeting at 4 PM to walk along the routes withdrawing the flags posted that morning, neatly rolling the flags on the staffs, then setting them in groups of 2 or 3 for pickup by the truck-drawn trailers. Again, depending on the numbers of volunteer participating, this effort can take from 30 minutes to an hour.
