CPT Richard Edward Legate, 1967

Captain Richard Edward Legate, Jacksonville FL, Wife, Elisabeth, from Lake Forest.

He graduated from The Citadel and was commissioned a 2nd LT in the Army. He was an Airborne Special Forces Officer and while  taking Part in an operation in the central highlands of Vietnam, the small two seat plane he was flying in were hit by hostile fire and shot down. He died outright from either hostile fire in 1967 at the age of 28.

He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.  He was married and had a one year old. His wife Elizabeth was from Lake Forest.
